base, the snow cover is ample, and the folks at Stevens have been working hard to make sure the groomed runs are in top shape. It has been some weeks since snow has fallen in the mountains, so conditions are very firm. Please wear your helmet and stay on the groomed runs tomorrow. It will be a great day to take it easy and regain your riding legs, but be cautious and make sure you stay injury free for the upcoming weeks and the fresh snow they will bring. The details: Season Pass and Terrain Park Pass will be handed out in the bus on the way up to the mountain (unless you have picked it up already). For those who did not purchase a Season Pass, you will buy your tickets on the ferry at the front right side of the boat. This will be very simple and only take a few minutes. You must pay with check made payable to Stevens Pass, or have exact change. Regular tickets are $48.00, and tickets for students 12 and under are $25.00. MARK ALL OF YOUR GEAR, and make sure that your gear, especially your board bag is unique and easily identifiable. You are ultimately the person responsible for your equipment. The chaperones and the snowboard truck drivers are there to help, but you must make sure your skis or board are loaded, unloaded and accounted for.
Now, just for fun, review the
Details On this first day, the ski patrol will greet each bus and give you a heads-up on conditions and safety issues. We would then like all 101 lesson participants to follow your chaperones to lessons on the first day. Stevens Pass will sort riders by ability, and this will take a few extra minutes, so be to the lesson area no later than 9:50. Remember to take any belongings you think you might need during the day with you. The busses are not necessarily secure. Store your valuables in a locker. The busses will not be accessible until 3:00.
All ski school participants must be back on the bus ready to go by 3:45, unless announced otherwise.
See you in the morning. Remember to wear a helmet, play safe, and always ski or ride with a buddy. Posted: Thursday, November 26 Hello my Ski School Faithful, Wow, Stevens Pass is open with a 53” base before Thanksgiving weekend. All of the mountain lifts are now open, and operations are full on for the start of the CK Ski School season. CK Ski School is filling fast. Our days of preparation are nearing an end, and our days of epic riding are about to begin. On December 12th the busses will rock and roll and we’ll be ready to ride. BEFORE WE GET THERE, HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT REMINDERS Mandatory Meeting , Wednesday December 2 in CKJH Old Gym Yes, the Mandatory Meeting is Wednesday, and there will be lots going on, so please read the following carefully. First if you are a rider of the rails or like playing in the pipe, listen up. Stevens Pass will have Park Pass presentations that you MUST have to enter the Terrain Park. If you are a Terrain Park veteran, you will want to attend one of the training sessions either before or after the Mandatory Meeting (6:00 pre, ~8:00 post). Your parents must sign the park pass form (if you’re under 18), and there’s a $5.00 fee. Bus Sign Ups will also happen before the Mandatory Meeting begins. Oldest students come first with 12th grade sign up starting at 6:00 Students may sign up one friend with a note from that friend’s parents. Students will be directed to ride with their age group and their school group. A student must have permission from a ski school director to ride a bus that is meant for students two or more grade levels above or below. Students missing the meeting will be placed on the first available bus that closest meets their grade and school profile. Are you signed up? You can check to see if your forms have been received and processed by going to our website www.ckskischool.com and selecting the “Participant List” link on the homepage. All students are listed by first name, last initial, and grade level. If you do NOT see your name on the list, email Mr. Keller right away at davidk@cksd.wednet.edu So remember there are a very few spaces left. If you are waiting to sign up, DON’T! Or if you have friends that want to join our winter party, let them know that there is still room if they hurry. We will take ski school registrations up until our meeting on December 2nd. One of our staff will be on hand from 5 -6 on the night of the mandatory meeting to take last minute signups. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you on the 2nd. We have a set agenda that won’t go more than an hour, but we have important details to cover to assure everyone has a safe, rewarding, and fun experience on each ski school Saturday. Until then ~ Think Snow. David Keller, Director, CK Ski School |
