Rules & Expectations
We expect to have an excellent year together. However, for the safety and enjoyment of everyone, there will be some rules and expectations that students must obey. These are in addition to the
Rules and Responsibilities section of the student handbook available at every school
and established by the Central Kitsap School District. Please remember that any
misconduct deemed serious enough by a director or head chaperone could result in expulsion from ski school without refund, as well as the
district's disciplinary procedures.

The Bus:
-
This is a school function.
Obscene and profane language are unacceptable on the bus, just like
it would be in a classroom.
-
Again, school function - public
displays of affection are not appropriate for this setting. Rules 1
and 2 fall under "sexual harassment" of the district's disciplinary
code and can have serious consequences.
-
For Safety, glass containers will not be allowed on the bus.
-
Please remain on the bus while the driver installs or removes chains.
-
Please remain seated and reasonably quiet while bus is moving.
-
Please keep bus clean. Student
clean-up groups will be formed by chaperones.
-
No
public music or video devices are allowed. Personal media devices such as
iPods or disc players are allowed but you assume the risk bringing
these devices to ski school. CK Ski School can not be
responsible for the theft or misplacement of personal items.
-
Nothing is to be passed or extended outside or inside the bus windows.
-
To prevent expensive damage, students are to keep off seat backs and avoid placing or
leaning equipment on the seats or against the bus.
-
Please keep all windows clear (especially rear window). Do not obstruct with gear,
signs, or your body.
-
Please keep your skis and poles fastened together when loading.
-
Students
are not to return to the bus while at the Pass
until 15 minutes before the announced return time.
Plan on eating lunch in the lodges and acquiring a locker/basket for
items you want to access or keep safe during your time at the
mountain.
-
Please be sensitive to the serious job the bus driver and chaperones have in making your
trips as safe as possible. Always show respect.

The Ferry:
-
The ferry is a public environment. Please do not infringe on the rights of the
general public with excessive noise or movement. i.e. running and
yelling or climbing across
furniture.
-
Having departed the bus, all skiers and boarders shall remain inside the ferry
on the
passenger deck until instructed to return to the bus.
-
USE THE
RESTROOM BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE FERRY. ALLOW EXTRA TIME.

Lessons:
-
Skiers and boarders are to attend all lessons. They need to be mindful of time and not be
late. Morning Classes leave the meeting area at 10 o'clock.
Plan on showing up at the lesson meeting place 10 minutes early.
-
We are currently
working on a link where parents and participants can review their
attendance record. We will alert all participants with a bulletin
when this option is available.

Snow Rider Responsibility Code:
Regardless if you ski or snowboard, always show courtesy to others and be aware that there
are elements of risk in skiing that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Observe the codes listed below and share with other
skiers the responsibility for a great skiing experience.
Ski or ride under control and in such a manner that you can stop
and avoid other people
and objects.
When skiing or riding and overtaking another person, avoid the
people below you.
Do not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from
above.
When entering a trail or starting downhill, yield to other skiers
and snowboarders.
All skiers and snowboarders shall use devices to help
prevent runaway skis and boards.
Stay off closed trails and posted areas and observe all
posted signs.
Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and
ability to load, ride and unload
safely. Know the code. It's your responsibility.
